Worked with bulky weight yarn, this snuggly bulky hat will crochet up in just an evening or two. With four hat sizes ranging from toddler to adult extra large, there should be a size for almost all of your family members. Just be sure to wrangle them up and measure their heads.
But Which Side is “Correct?”
Why do we have to choose? Many times labeling one side of a piece of crochet “wrong side” feels … well … wrong. In my experience, both sides of some crochet stitches looks equally awesome. The variety of texture from front to back can be fascinating to watch as the piece works up and your eye follows the strand of yarn. This visual design appreciation leads me to prefer the back side or “wrong side” sometimes.
And with my This Way, That Way hat, both side are visually intriguing. I often gift these hats with either side facing out – it’s like a 2-for-1 pattern. My Inside Out Tube Cowl is another example where both sides look awesome as a cowl/scarf.
I also use a Crochet Snowball as a motif or applique for this bulky hat for the toddler and child sizes. These little snowballs — in place of buttons — really dress up a hat. They also make the cutest Christmas tree ornaments. Check out more info about the Crochet Snowball pattern.
