Free Ear Warmer Crochet Pattern with Tutorial
When living in a cold climate, sometimes you can give in to the urge to curl up with your crochet and a cup of hot chocolate but other times you must lean into the cold bite of the wind and get your body moving.
For me, the get your body moving always follows full-on snuggles. I feel so blessed to have the energy to move and I take full advantage. And, warm winter accessories are a must.
But, while I love crochet blankets and crochet hats, I needed a basic crochet pattern that I could make for more than just me–because my hubby wanted one, my dad and my kiddo. So many headbands!
So, I decided to make this crochet headband pattern with easy crochet stitches!
I made my Woodland Trekke Ear Warmer in both smooth, soft cotton – Knit Picks Organic Worsted Weight and warm, snuggly wool/alpaca blend – Drops Nepal.
Different weather calls for different fiber for my crochet tutorials! Sometimes the bite of the wind isn’t so bad and I love the feel of soft cotton on my skin. It’s not a bulky yarn, either, so you get a smooth feeling both while you’re working the yarn and when you’re wearing it.
When I was just learning how to crochet (experimenting with granny squares–I was so cute!), Knit Picks used to offer their worsted organic cotton in multiple colors, but they still offer an undyed version that I just love. Hand dying yarn is on my “Wish to do list” and I bet I would like to begin my experiments with this yarn.
If you have any experience dying cotton, I would love to hear about your process. Leave me some advice in the comments section below.
