What Yarn Should You Use for a Crochet Headband?
Because I wanted a more springy piece, I felt that a lighter weight yarn would be nice, but with a good stretch. I have a lot of appreciation for a soft yarn when making a wearable. So I chose to make the primary portion of the headband with Caron Simply Soft yarn.
You can use any color of yarn you like, but a neutral or pastel shade looks best with the bright pop of rainbow. But as long as your colors are complimentary or contrasting, you will love the finished headband.
Regarding yarn sizing, this project can be worked with any worsted weight yarn or similar.
What Size Does This Crochet Headband Pattern Fit?
As written, this pattern is a one-size-fits-all size. I am an average sized head circumference and it fits well. If I were making this pattern for a teen or even a tween, the pattern, as written, would need to be sized down. For a larger individual, you may consider sizing up or working with a looser tension.
How Much Yarn Will I Need to Make a Crocheted Headband?
I used a very small portion of a skein of 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn (size 4) in white colorway for the body of the headband. I used a very small amount of variegated yarn for the rainbow portion. I do generally crochet in a medium-tension, so this is what I would consider an average amount of yarn usage for this project.
How Do You Crochet a Knotted Headband?
This particular headband crochet pattern is worked as a single piece, not in the round. The piece is then folded at the end, looping the bits together to create the illusion of a knot.
