Classic Lake Shore Ripples Blanket Pattern

The Lakeshore Ripples Blanket is a lovely crochet blanket pattern to use if you want to practice working post stitches. This easy to work design is a perfect project for creating a classic baby blanket or throw for the whole family to enjoy a snuggle in.

The simple “ripples” of the blanket are made with post stitches. In order to make the posts lay flat next to each other I used two different size posts – front post half double crochet and front post double crochet. This creates a smooth texture for your blanket — you can focus on the rows of design moving up the blanket rather than seeing holes created by a height difference in the stitches.

If you like the idea of more post stitch practice, you will enjoy the simple and traditional look of the Berry Hedge Blanket.

I like to think of the little ripple stitches in the Lake Shore Ripples Blanket as baby cables. They aren’t, but I still like to imagine what they could transform into if they continued to ripple and grow unimpeded on a smooth water surface. (See photo above)

This pattern is written to create a baby blanket, but I included directions for multiples if you want to create a beautiful throw. I would love to see pics of your blanket creations, tag me on Instagram @GoldenStrandStudio
