This free baby blanket crochet pattern with mitered crochet and bean stitches makes such an adorable
I’m so excited about this free crochet baby blanket pattern! There are so many things you can create with it. In this post I am giving you the pattern for a baby blanket, but the pattern also is adaptable to a coaster and dishcloth. Psst – the little Flutterby coasters can be assembled to make an adorable Christmas stocking. Stay tuned!
This is such a fun pattern because the blanket features mitered crochet and bean stitches–with not a one single crochet. It’s like a granny square for the modern girl. LOL!
In all seriousness, I love the look of mitered crochet. And bean stitches. Have I mentioned how much I love bean stitches? Not seed stitches, although those are cool too, but bean stitches. I try to put them into as many of my designs as possible.
When I work with crochet mitered squares, I find they can go askew a bit if you want to make a large piece. In my Flutterby design I used bean stitches to stabilize the shape to be able to create a square baby blanket. And that means, you get a great free crochet pattern for a baby blanket that you can make into a million fun things!
Rectangles are an awesome shape for a baby blanket, but a square with architecture is a great pop for variety in our creations.
The full free baby blanket pattern is provided below including all sizes, materials, and notes. An ad-free PDF version of the Flutterby pattern is also available for you to purchase, download, and print out.

Question- row 18 is the row of bean stitch but the repeat goes to row 11 which is also a bean stitch. Is that correct? I love this pattern so far, it’s super detailed which is appreciated
Katie Hale says
Yes. This is correct.
