I love to crochet, but I love a fast crochet blanket pattern more than anything else. Completing a project quickly is just so fun–and then I can move on to the next!
The Lakeshore Ripples Blanket is a lovely crochet blanket pattern to use if you want to practice working post stitches, or if you’re just looking for a quick and easy simple crochet project. This easy to work design is a quick crochet project for creating a classic baby blanket or throw for the whole family to enjoy a snuggle in.
The simple “ripples” of the blanket are made with post stitches. In order to make the posts lay flat next to each other I used two different size posts – front post half double crochet and front post double crochet. This creates a smooth texture for your blanket — you can focus on the rows of design moving up the blanket rather than seeing holes created by a height difference in the stitches.
This also makes this one of the most easy crochet patterns because you’re not having to remember any difficult stitches to make this stitch pattern, just simple posts, repeated. Makes it a great crochet afghan pattern for beginners that comes together quickly enough that you can get this blanket finished in a day, if you want!
If you like the idea of more post stitch practice, you will enjoy the simple and traditional look of the Berry Hedge Blanket.
I like to think of the little ripple stitches in the Lake Shore Ripples Blanket as baby cables. They aren’t, but I still like to imagine what they could transform into if they continued to ripple and grow unimpeded on a smooth water surface.
You could make this with a chunky yarn on the ripple rows and have big ripples, or you can do what I did with the smaller ripples of the worsted weight yarn. So much more fun than plain ‘ole granny squares, this crochet baby blanket pattern is just an all around fun and easy afghan crochet pattern you’ll love.
This pattern is written to create a baby blanket, but I included directions for multiples if you want to create a beautiful throw for fun farmhouse home decor.

This is a beautiful blanket but I seem to have problems on row 10 and haven’t been able to figure out what I’m doing wrong.
