Classic Blanket Pattern With Cream Yarn. Lots of texture with puff stitches.

Size:

♥ 34 x 30 in (86 x 76 cm)

♥ Pattern is worked in multiples of 32 + 36 (for single color blankets only).

Materials:

♥ Approximately 1200 yards worsted weight yarn, Drops Nepal used for blankets in pictures.

♥ If using two colors of yarn, approximately 600 yards each of worsted weight yarn.

♥ Crochet hook: Size J/10 (6 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

♥ Tapestry needle

Gauge:

♥ In half double crochet, 14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches

Skill Level: Easy

Special Stitches

Half Double Crochet in Bottom Loop of Foundation Chain:

Turn your foundation chain over and crochet in the row of single “bumps” or loops created on the bottom when you made the chain.

Altered Bean Stitch / Puff Stitch:

Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull through, *yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, pull through, repeat from * 2 more times, yarn over, pull through 8 loops on hook, chain 1 (to lock stitch). Skip 1 stitch immediately following bean stitch. This will equal 2 stitches in pattern.

Chain 102, turn.

Row 1:

Half double crochet in bottom loop of foundation chain (see Special Stitches Section for instructions) in third chain from hook and continue to end of row, turn. (100 stitches)

Rows 2 – 5:

Chain 2, half double crochet in each stitch of row, turn.

Row 6:

Chain 2, half double crochet in first stitch of row, 1 Altered Bean Stitch in next stitch of row (see Special Stitches Section for instructions), 9 half double crochet, *6 bean stitches, 9 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch, 9 half double crochet, repeat from * once, 6 bean stitches, 9 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch in third stitch from end of row, half double crochet in last stitch of row, turn. (22 bean stitches total, 56 half double crochet stitches total.)

Rows 7 – 79:

Repeat Row 6 for number of rows indicated.

Rows 80 – 84:

Chain 2, half double crochet in each stitch of row, turn.

Row 85:

Chain 2, bean stitch in first stitch of row, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, *bean stitch, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, repeat from * across row, bean stitch in last stitch of row, chain 1, slip stitch into last stitch of row. (34 bean stitches total)

Fasten off.

Finishing:

Turn blanket around to work at bottom or in base of Row 1, attach yarn at beginning of row and chain 2, bean stitch in first stitch of row, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, *bean stitch, chain 1, skip 1 stitch, repeat from * across row, bean stitch in last stitch of row, chain 1, slip stitch into last stitch of row. (34 bean stitches total)

Fasten off.

Weave in loose ends.

Lightly block to shape if necessary.
