It’s time to break out the cotton yarn and create some beautiful crochet cloths this summer!
The Cottage Life dishcloth pattern design includes just the right amount of puff stitches in the center to give the fabric substance for scrubbing if needed. This washcloth has one design, but includes instructions to make two different sizes.

Size:
- Cloth 1 โ 7.25 in x 7 in (18 cm x 18 cm)
- Cloth 2 โ 8.5 in x 8.5 in (21 cm x 21 cm)
Materials:
- Cloth 1 โ approximately 70 yards worsted weight cotton yarn. Paintbox Cotton Aran used for cloths pictured.
- Cloth 2 โ approximately 80 yards worsted weight cotton yarn. Paintbox Cotton Aran used for cloths pictured.
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle
Skill Level: Easy
Gauge: In half double crochet, 15 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches

Special Stitches
Half Double Crochet in Bottom Loop of Foundation Chain:
Turn your foundation chain over and crochet in the row of single โbumpsโ or loops created on the bottom when you made the chain.
(Altered) Bean Stitch / Puff Stitch:
Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull through, *yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and pull through, repeat from * 2 more times, yarn over, pull through 8 loops on hook, chain 1 (to lock stitch). Skip 1 stitch immediately following bean stitch. This will equal 2 stitches in pattern.

Chain 29.
Row 1:
Half double crochet in bottom loop of foundation chain (see Special Stitches Section for instructions) in second chain from hook and continue to end of row, turn. 28 stitches total.
Row 2:
Chain 1, half double crochet in first 2 stitches of row, 12 (Altered) Bean Stitches (see Special Stitches Section above) across row until last 2 stitches, 2 half double crochet, turn. (12 beans total, 4 half double crochet stitches total)
Rows 3 – 4:
Chain 1, 2 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch, 20 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch, 2 half double crochet, turn. (2 beans total, 24 half double crochet stitches total)
Row 5:
Chain 1, 2 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch, 6 half double crochet, 4 bean stitches, 6 half double crochet, 1 bean stitch, 2 half double crochet, turn. (6 beans total, 16 half double crochet stitches total)
Row 6:
