You can make so many different sizes, colors, and shapes, but mostly they really make you feel like you’ve accomplished something incredible. watching a bag take shape in your hands is powerful and reminds you of why you began crocheting to begin with!
How Do You Make a Crochet Bag Sturdy?
This crochet bag is designed to be loose and slouchy. It’s a soft bag that adjust to what you put inside it and is super easy to use on a regular basis, so isn’t really meant to be “sturdy” in the traditional sense of the word. However, adjusting a bag to make it stand the test of time is important. Below are some tips that I think are worth considering.
- Line your purse with a tough fabric that will help prevent snags from happening on the inside.
- Use tight dense stitches to make it closer together and a better weave that is less likely to catch and unravel.
- Consider using sturdier handles instead of those crocheted in place. In this pattern, the ones made are nice and thick, but could be adapted with traditional if preferred.
- Use the right kind of yarn that is made for regular routine use and can be easily washed without causing damage.
What Yarn is Best for Bags?
The yarn you pick really will depend upon the type of bag you are making. For this bag and pattern, a worsted weight cotton yarn was used. Any sturdy worsted weight yarn can be used for this bag. That said, the type of yarn will depend upon the result you want. A nice thick or bulky yarn will give a sturdier result. Delicate thin and light yarns create a softer and more delicate bag.
