Size: Assembled – 7.5 in (19 cm) high and 6 in (15 cm) wide (approximately)
Materials:
♥ Base Color – approximately 120 yards worsted weight yarn. Drops Paris cotton yarn used for bag pictured, but any sturdy worsted weight yarn can be used.
♥ Accent Color – approximately 60 yards worsted weight yarn. Drops Paris cotton yarn used for bag pictured.
♥ Crochet hook: Size H/8 (5.0 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
♥ Tapestry needle
♥ Open ring stitch markers
♥ 1 – 18 inch two strap purse handle with metal rings (the straps may be longer or shorter for your needs) or purse handles of your choice.
Gauge: In single crochet, 8 stitches and 8 rows = 2 inches.

This bag is worked from the bottom up. Do not join rounds unless specified.

Special Stitches
(Altered) Bean Stitch / Puff Stitch:
Insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull through, *yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, pull through, repeat from * 1 more time, yarn over, pull through 6 loops on hook, chain 1 (to lock stitch). Skip 1 stitch immediately following bean stitch. This will equal two stitches in pattern.
Directions for the Mini Red Clover Crochet Tote Bag Pattern
Chain 27.
Round 1:
Two single crochet in top loop of second stitch from hook, (you will be working in top half of foundation chain) single crochet in top loop of each foundation chain up to and including next to last stitch in row, four single crochet in last stitch, continue to turn foundation chain in your hand and single crochet in remaining unused loops of foundation chain up to and including next to last stitch in row, two single crochet in last stitch in row, slip stitch in first single crochet to join round, 56 stitches total. (This will create an elongated oval which will be the bottom of the bag.)
Rounds 2 – 10:
Single crochet in first stitch of previous round, place stitch marker, single crochet in each stitch of previous round and continue to work in a spiral for number of rounds indicated, move stitch marker up as you go for remainder of pattern.
Rounds 11 – 12:
Slip stitch in first stitch from previous round and continue with slip stitch in each stitch for number of rounds indicated, slip stitch to join.
Round 13:
Using accent color, altered bean stitch (see Special Stitch Instructions) in first stitch from previous round, bean stitch for number of rounds indicated, slip stitch to join, 28 bean stitches total.
Rounds 14 – 15:
Using base color, slip stitch in first stitch from previous round and continue with slip stitch in each stitch for number of rounds indicated.
Round 16:
Using accent color, altered bean stitch in first stitch from previous round, bean stitch for number of rounds indicated, slip stitch to join.
Rounds 17 – 18:
Using base color, slip stitch in first stitch from previous round and continue with slip stitch in each stitch for number of rounds indicated.
Round 19:
Using accent color, altered bean stitch in first stitch from previous round, bean stitch for number of rounds indicated, slip stitch to join.
Round 20:
Using base color, slip stitch in first stitch from previous round and continue with slip stitch for entire round.
Rounds 21 – 22:
Single crochet in first stitch from previous round and continue with single crochet in each stitch for number of rounds indicated.
Round 23:
Altered bean stitch in first stitch from previous round, slip stitch to join.
Rounds 24 – 25:
Single crochet in first stitch from previous round and continue with single crochet in each stitch for number of rounds indicated, slip stitch to join.
Round 26:
Slip stitch in each stitch of round.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Attach Purse Straps:
Sew the O rings on the outside ends of the bag, third row from the top. Place the needle between stitches, not into yarn strand, when sewing.
