I wanted a simple, little basket to hang from the wall to display some seasonal items with my decor. So I created this easy hanging basket free crochet pattern. Works up fast and is ready to hang in no time.

Easy Hanging Basket Free Crochet Pattern
One of my favorite things about this particular hanging basket is that the opening is perfectly round, but the way that it drapes, it looks like an oval. Plus, its fairly low-profile. That means there’s no need to worry about putting it on the wall where it’s “out of the way”.
So, pick out your yarn, grab your hook and let’s get going!
What Yarn Should You Use for a Wall Basket?
For this easy wall basket, I wanted it to work up quick and be pretty sturdy. So I decided to use a super bulky yarn in a nice, neutral color to go with my other year-round neutral decor. That way I can just swap out whatever i have filling the basket for each holiday or season, and the basket itself will just go with everything.
More specifically, I used Lion Brand Hometown, super bulky (6), 100% acrylic yarn in Dallas Grey colorway. But this project can be worked with any super bulky weight yarn or similar.
What Size Is This Hanging Wall Basket?
As written, this pattern is one-size. The resulting wall cubby is 12-inches diameter with a 5-inch diameter opening. This is reasonably sized for small plants (faux or small potted), fruit, yarn, or other items you might want to use a hanging basket to store.
How Much Yarn Will I Need to Make a Hanging Basket?
I used almost a whole skein of Lion Brand Hometown yarn in Dallas Grey colorway for the pictured hanging basket. I do generally crochet in a medium-tension, so this is what I would consider an average amount of yarn usage for this project.
How Do You Crochet a Cozy for a Crocheted Wall Basket?
The back portion of this easy hanging basket crochet pattern is worked in the round, starting with a foundation chain. If you prefer to make a magic circle, you can find instructions to make that, you can see my trinket bowl crochet pattern.
