Ridiculously Easy Popsicle Cozy Crochet Pattern – Free and Fun
Seriously, my kids go through a lot of ice pops. Sometimes, I partake with them, but no matter what, the kids always, without fail, complain about cold fingers. So, I figured whipping out a super simple crochet pattern for popsicle holders would be a great way to spice up our summer.
Now, I’m looking froward to popsicle time. Grab your yarn and let’s get hookin’!
What Yarn Should You Use for a Popsicle Cozy?
My favorite thing about this fun crochet project is that it is so fast to work up. With that in mind, I decided that I wanted to make enough of them that the kids could each have them and a few extras, so half of them could be in the wash at any given time. To kind of keep up with that, I wanted to use some yarn I already had on hand and that would not have any problems with shrinking or anything. So I grabbed a skein of Sugar ‘n Cream 100% cotton worsted weight yarn (size 4) in Tea Roe colorway for my tester pieces. It worked great and I’m very happy with how well they are holding up.
Regarding yarn sizing, this project can be worked with any worsted weight yarn or similar.
What Size Is This Popsicle Cuff?
As written, this pattern is one-size. The resulting ice pop cozy is 4-inches long and 1.5-inches wide. If your popsicles are a different size than mine, you can add more rows, but I found this sizing to be perfect for the two brands of ice pops in our freezer.
How Much Yarn Will I Need to Make an Ice Pop Cozy?
I used a very small amount (very small amount) of a skein of Sugar ‘n Cream 100% cotton worsted weight yarn (size 4) in Tea Rose colorway for the pictured popsicle holders.
I do generally crochet in a medium-tension, so this is what I would consider an average amount of yarn usage for this project.
How Do You Crochet a Popsicle Holder?
This easy popsicle holder is worked as a single rectangle and then folded in half to make the cozy wrap snugly around the popsicles. I used a simple half-double crochet to form the wrap. If, upon testing the fit of your cozy, you find that the fit is too snug, you can insert an additional row of half-double crochet before joining the two sides.
