14 Creepy But Fun Skull Crochet Patterns

TheHatandI Sugar Skull Soirée Crochet Pattern

Seven white crochet skulls with a sugar skull pattern on them in bright blue, orange, pink, green, and red.

Our favorite skull crochet pattern is the Sugar Skull Soirée pattern by TheHatandI.

The Sugar Skull Soirée pattern can be used to create adorable and colorful ‘Day of the Dead’ style crochet skulls that require an intermediate level of skill.

The instructions given for this crochet pattern are very detailed and include patterns for the skull itself as well as accessories like flowers, hats, and mustaches.

You’ll need a light yarn, size B and G crochet hooks, a tapestry needle, some wire, stitch markers, black ribbon, polyester fiberfill, and some optional fabric glue.

Deprecat Goat Skull Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

A white crochet goat skull with black eyes and long black horns attached to a gray mount on a white wall.

This goat skull crochet pattern from Deprecat is perfect for Halloween, but it’s also a great choice for witchy home decor year-round. The pattern will produce a life-size skull.

To complete this pattern, you will need both off-white and black yarn, some type of stuffing material, D and C crochet hooks, black felt, and a bent yarn needle.

You can even hang the finished product up on your wall, using a wood plaque and 2 square hooks.

How to Crochet a Skull

Super simple and quick crochet craft, making this easy skull is perfect for anyone that loves a little spooky vibes.

SpinaYarnStudio Sugar Skull Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Small crochet skeleton doll with an oversized skull, blue flowers for eyes, and small pink and purple flowers along the top of the skull.

SpinaYarnStudio has a gorgeous crochet pattern for a ragdoll-style skull, 2D skull figure.

The skull head sits on top of a downsized skeleton body. Your new little skull friend will have colorfully-rimmed eyes, each with a hand-stitched sparkle. The skull wears a flower crown, and you can decorate its face in different colors to suit your personal preferences.

Creating this sugar skull ragdoll involves making each piece in flat crochet rows and then joining them together with stitching.

The completed doll should measure approximately 12 inches, or 30 centimeters, when measured from the top of the head to the feet.

MilaToysPatterns Amigurumi Halloween Skull Pattern

Small white crochet skull and bones with black eyes, nose, and mouth held up by a hand.

The Amigurumi Halloween Skull Pattern by MilaToysPatterns makes the perfect toy or decorative item to give as a gift or decorate your own home with.

Instructions for the MilaToysPatterns crochet pattern are accompanied by pictures (60 in total) to help you get each step right. The finished product should measure 3.5 inches (9 cm) high.

Because this pattern is relatively easy to execute, you don’t need to be a seasoned crocheter to follow it. Therefore, this pattern is an excellent choice for beginners.

Sugar Skull 2D Pattern

SO CUTE! I love how simple this sugar skull crochet pattern is – but how amazing it turns out.

VoodooMaggieStudios Sweet Little Skull Pattern

White crochet stuffed skull with brown eyes and nose and defined teeth, sitting on a dark wooden table.

We absolutely adore the Sweet Little Skull crochet pattern from VoodooMaggieStudios.

The pattern is for a plain, though quite realistic-looking skull measuring 6.5 inches in height and 4.5 inches wide. The great thing about this skull pattern is that it can easily be embellished with vines, flowers, and just about anything else you can think of, although instructions for these additions aren’t included in the pattern.

VoodooMaggieStudios also has some of these skulls available through their Etsy store, ready-made, if you just want the finished product without the labor.

Pinktomatocrochet Día De Los Muertos Skull Crochet Pattern

A hand holding a small white skull with pink flowers for eyes and red crochet roses in the background.

Pinktomatocrochet’s Dia De Los Muertos Skull Crochet Pattern makes the perfect decoration for Day of the Dead celebrations.

The difficulty level is best suited to more advanced beginners and above because of the flowers around the skull’s eyes. These can be done in whatever color you like, so it’s easy to personalize your completed skull to fit your personal style.

All you’ll need is a 2 mm or a 2.5 mm crochet hook and yarn in your preferred colors to create a skull that measures roughly 8 or 9 cm in height.

Teeny Skull Amigurimi

It’s just SO TINY! And it’s a fairly quick crochet project that’s perfectly sized for earrings or a fun pencil topper.

SteffiGlaves Micro Crochet Skull Earring Pattern

A white and brown crochet skull earring set on a white background next to a small purple set of skull earrings.

SteffiGlaves has created a beautiful Micro Crochet Skull Earring Pattern to lend a touch of spookiness to your outfits.

These earrings are both cute and creepy, and the best part is, they’re not too difficult to make!

It’s also worth noting that while these little skulls are mainly intended for use as earrings, you can also repurpose them in other ways. For example, you can use them as hanging charms or applique them onto other fabric items.

FlusevaCrafts Skull Doily Crochet Pattern

A large white round crochet doily with a skull in the middle and a fan pattern on the outside.

A skull doily is a great way to decorate your home for halloween or, if you have spooky tastes, all through the year!

FlusevaCrafts has created the most beautiful skull doily pattern to adorn your tabletops.

This is, admittedly, a slightly more complicated pattern than some of the others we’ve reviewed in today’s article because it’s bilaterally symmetrical, so it’s best suited to intermediate and advanced crocheters.

Diagrams are included alongside the written instructions on a step-by-step basis, minimizing the chances of misunderstandings and mistakes. You can also choose between 2 types of instructions – A and B.

A is the most comprehensive option while B focuses more on the central skull in terms of diagrams, with exclusively written instructions for the rest of the pattern.

CreativeChaosArts Sugar Skull Doll Pattern

Three crochet skeleton dolls wearing black dresses with black and white striped legs, pink flowers for eyes, and flowers in their hair.

This is another sugar skull doll crochet pattern, this time by CreativeChaosArts.

The CreativeChaosArts pattern should create a 12-inch doll (measured in height), and as you can see from the images of the completed product, she’s absolutely adorable!

The doll has button eyes, a colorful dress, stripy legs, and a flowery hat, and a detailed, decorated face. This certainly isn’t a project for beginners because of its complexity, but if you have the requisite skill level and enough patience, the finished doll will definitely be worth the hours you put in!

Please note that this doll is not suitable for young children because of the button eyes. Rather, it’s intended to be a decorative item.

LilanasArtBoutique Skull and Bone Crochet Pattern Book

A large white crochet skull with a large bone in front of it on a concrete floor outside.

The last skull crochet pattern we have to show you today is the Skull and Bone Crochet Pattern Book by LilanasArtBoutique.

You need a 4 mm hook (G-6) plus yarn in the color of your choice. The recommended yarn size is medium – about a size 4. You’ll also need a sewing needle designed for yarn, a stitch marker, and fiberfill stuffing.

We’d also like to point out that you can find the Skull and Bone Crochet Pattern Book as part of LilanasArtBoutique’s Halloween pattern book, if you want to extend your repertoire of spooky crochet decorations.

Remember to verify the safety of all products for children if you’re intending to give the finished creation as a gift, and check what materials and tools are required to make sure you’re ready to get started!
